JJ was extremely malnourished as a baby. His grandma brought him to a missionary because he had serious burns on his hand. The missionary ended up cutting off one of his fingers due to the damage and potential infection. We aren't sure where his parents are, but believe his grandma is still living.
UPDATE: JJ is 18, in 9th grade at Teach Haiti School, and loves making beats (music) on his laptop. If anyone has ever gotten the sweetest handwritten letter from JJ, just know he still loves to write them! I just got one for Christmas. The smiley-laughing kid has turned into an introverted young man who cares and loves so much but definitely needs his space. JJ has an attitude of gratitude. He always tells me how grateful he is for me, and school, just always showing gratitude. He now lives in an apartment just for the older teenagers above Ambers. He’s taken on the responsibilities of learning to do laundry (still a work in progress), dishes, etc. As a family, we do Bible on Sundays, and they go to a House church on Tuesdays.
Sponsorship Details
South Asia - $30 / month provides food, clothing, school supplies, education, medical care, personal hygiene items, love and care for your child. Some children live in the homes, while most participate in the daytime program and live at home with their parent(s) or a relative.
Haiti - Because it is so much more expensive in Haiti to care for a child we typically have multiple sponsors for each child. Through your sponsorship we are able to provide food, housing, education and basic life needs for each child. We have set up 7 sponsorships for each child for a total of $250 per child/per month.

Total per child = $250/month
Haiti Note: You can still write letters with your child in Haiti! They will only receive extra encouragement with multiple sponsors.
