Updates on Rajendra Putti

Posted 10/2/08 - 1:50 PM EST

Greetings from India!Rajendra

Yesterday I had the wonderful privilege of spending time with Rajendra. I was shocked when I arrived at the home where he is staying that he came to the car to greet me! He was smiling and waving just like any other child would. He was walking without any limp and he had the most beautiful smile you could imagine. As you looked into his eyes, you could see joy, not pain. I asked him if he had any pain and he said that he did not feel any at all. The only thing you could notice is the bandage on his arm and he still does not have a full range of motion in his arm yet where he had the surgery. He is doing excercises everyday to regain back his mobility.

He is staying in the home where Steeven's brother and sister-in-law live, Gabriel and Beluah. They have two boys of their own, Emmanuel and Samuel. You could tell they loved having a big brother and Rajendra loved playing with them as well. Rajendra could understand every question that I asked him and he responded to each question. Rajendra with Samuel and Emmanuel

I was told that Rajendra was riding a bicycle to school when he was hit by the front of the truck. He was, of course, knocked off his bike and the back tires of the truck were only inches from running over his head. God spared his life!

I believe the comment he made that touched me the most was when he said "I know that God saved my life because He wants to me to tell others about Him. I want to be a pastor and preach the Gospel." Wow! I assured Rajendra that God definitely had a great purpose for His life and that He would be greatly used of God no matter what he did in life. He already is telling others that his God is the One who healed him and He is the God they need to worship!Rajendra with Steeven

Thank you so much for praying for Rajendra! God has answered your prayers and God is receiving great glory through this difficult circumstance. It was a blessing to see a living miracle right before my eyes!

We still owe about $2,000 for medical expenses incurred at the hospital. If you feel led to give to help cover these costs, please do so by giving online at:  GPPD Rajendra Medical Fund.  You can also mail a check to GPPD, PO Box 117, Blue Ridge, VA 24064 (please be sure to indicate on the check that it is for Rajendra's Medical Expenses).  We appreicate all those who have given thus far and praise God in advance for those who will help cover the remaining expenses, plus any future medical needs Rajendra may have.

This morning we received word that Rajendra is doing better and that they are planning for him to be discharged from the hospital in two weeks!!!!!! Please pray that this will become a reality. Also pray that he will be completely healed of any infection that he has, and also that his brain will be completely healed. We praise God for how He has answered prayers concerning Rajendra. We also praise God for how He has provided financially for Rajendra's hospital bills. Thank you so much for your continued prayers for Rajendra.  God is working in a mighty way! Rajendra #1

We received an update from Steeven today along with some pictures of Rajendra.  It is a miracle to see how much God has healed this precious little boy so far!  Steeven said that he is happy and is reading his Bible by himself.  His speech is still not clear though and the doctors are still doing tests on his brain and considering possible surgery.  Please pray that this will not be needed and that God will completely heal this little boy.

Steeven said that they have been going bed to bed in the hospital to visit with the patients and share Rajendra's testimony - what God has done in his life and how He has already begun a miraculous healing process.  They have passed out tracts and shared the Gospel and believe that some of the patients and their attendants have accepted Christ as their personal Savior because of Rajendra's story!  Praise the Lord for how He is using this for His glory!

Please continue to pray for the following:

  • Pray for a complete healing for Rajendra.Rajendra #2
  • Pray that God will continue to use this event for His glory and that many would put their trust in the One, True God.
  • Pray for great wisdom for the doctors as they determine the best treatment for Rajendra.
Pray that God will continue to meet the financial needs of Rajendra's treatment.  (Steeven will soon be sending us the expenses that have been incurred so far and what is needed for further treatment.)
  • Pray for the other children at the Mudinepally Children's Home, that God would continue to provide them comfort and peace.  Pray that they would cast all of their cares upon Him.
  • Pray for Motru, his wife Maryamma and all of the other caretakers at the Mudinepally Children's Home.Rajendra #4

Rajendra's condition has remained much the same. His fever has gone down a little bit since the last report. A specialist will be coming to the hospital on Monday to help them make a decision about the problems they see with his brain. Please pray that God will give this specialist wisdom in what should be done. Pray ultimately for God's divine healing for Rajendra.

We were able to talk to Steeven this morning. The doctors did not make a decision about the possible brain surgery this morning because Rajendra has a fever. His condition has not changed much since last report. Please pray that his fever will subside and that they can get an accurate assessment of his brain.

Steeven just called to give a brief update. He was just recently visiting with Rajendra. Rajendra has moved to a “regular” room. They have taken him off the oxygen and he is breathing on his own. They also took him off the iv fluids, and he is now taking liquids through his mouth. The doctors told Steeven they plan to make a decision about possible brain surgery on Wednesday. Please pray for a complete healing so that they will not have to do this surgery. I will continue to update this page with any information that we receive. James 5:16b states, The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Rajendra is continuing to recover well from his surgery on Friday. On Monday he will be taken out of the “intensive care” room and go to a “regular” room. We praise God for this answer to prayer. They are still concerned about his brain. He is opening his eyes, but that is about all that he can do. They are concerned that he has a blood clot(s) that may be causing damage to his brain. They have run some scans and definitely see abnormalities. They are going to evaluate him again on Wednesday and possibly make a decision if they will need to do surgery. Please pray for a complete healing of his brain and that he will not have to have any major surgery. Please continue to pray also for the children at Mudinepally. Thank you for your love, prayers and concern for Rajendra! Steeven told me to say “thank you” to each one of you for your faithful prayers.

Thank you for praying for Rajendra last evening. I just got a phone call from Steeven Kumar telling us that the doctors believe that the surgery was a success! Praise the Lord!! He had surgery done on his left elbow and also on his left thigh. Steeven said that the doctors that Rajendra has are the best that he has met in India. We know that God provided them for Rajendra. Steeven said that his heart was very happy after he talked to the doctors. He wanted to thank each of you for your prayers! Please continue to pray for his recovery. Also, Steeven shared with me that the orphans in Mudinepally are having a hard time dealing with the accident. Please pray for peace for the children and for them to continue to put their trust in God!

Thank you for your continued prayers for Rajendra. Would you please take time tonight to pray specifically for the surgery that he will have on his arm and leg. The surgery should begin around 12:30AM EST. Pray that it will be a successful surgery and that there will be no complications. Continue to pray for Rajendra’s healing, and that he would respond positively to the surgery.

Today Steeven and Dorothy went in to visit Rajendra. He recognized who they were! He did not talk, but he did see them and recognized them. Praise the Lord!! Steeven asked that we pray fervently for his healing. Steeven reminded me of a surgery he had when he was younger. They told him that he would not be able to walk for 6 months, within the next month after his surgery he was walking. He told me that this was only possible through prayer! He has organized 3 hour prayer meetings all over Andhra Pradesh for people to pray for Rajendra. He asked that we would join them in prayer, believing for a miracle for Rajendra.

I want to thank many of you for your contributions to help pay the medical expenses for Rajendra. If you have not given and would like to, you can give online at Rajendra Online Gift or you can give by check to GPPD, P.O. Box 117, Blue Ridge, VA 24064. Please make a note on your contribution “Rajendra Medical Help”.  Thank you so much for your faithfulness to pray for Rajendra. God is answering your prayers!

God is continuing to answer your prayers!!! This morning the doctors reported that Rajendra is opening his eyes more! They believe that he has some brain activity, which at first they did not think was possible. Praise the Lord!!! Please continue to pray for him as he will be having surgery on his left arm and leg on Friday morning IST. This will be around our bedtime on Thursday night. Pray for a successful surgery. They will be continuing to monitor his brain activity and make a decision about possible surgery at a later date. Please rejoice with me in the fact that we have a God that answers prayers!

We are excited to report that Rajendra did open his eyes today. It was for a very short period of time, but it is more than he was doing yesterday! Praise the Lord!!! He is answering your prayers and we are continuing to believe God for miracles in his body! It is our prayer that the doctors and the whole community will see that Rajendra's God is real and He alone is able to heal. The doctors are going to monitor him overnight with the treatment he is receiving now, and they will share with us their assessment tomorrow at 12noon IST (Indian Standard Time). Please check back tomorrow morning for more updates and continue to lift him up in prayer!

Steeven met with the doctors this morning. Rajendra is still unconscious, but they are giving him some medication to see how he responds to it. They are running tests to see how well his brain will respond and to see if he is bleeding around his brain. After they run these tests they will decide if they need to do brain surgery. We praise God that Rajendra is still alive and we are continuing to trust God for a miracle in His life.

We continue to praise God for your continued prayers for Rajendra. There is not too much new to report at this time. Rajendra continues to be unconscious in the Vijayawada Hotel. The doctors are observing him through the night and will give a report to Steeven in the morning. At this point the prognosis is not good. Please continue to pray for a miracle. Pray that God would be glorified through Rajendra's life. The children at Mudinepally are having a very difficult time. Continue to pray for God's peace to surround them. Motro, the caretaker, is doing better and is with the children in Mudinepally. There are many of the leaders at the hospital, praying throughout the day and night. Steeven should have arrived in Vijayawada tonight.

Dorothy Kumar emailed this, which I wanted to share with you "The only thing is that our Miracle God has to give life to Rajendra, then only we can lift up our face." Meaning, we must continue to labor in prayer.

I want to thank many of you who have already sacrificially given to help meet this need. It has been a blessing to watch God provide this need. If you would like to help with his medical expenses, please send it to Global Partners in Peace and Development P.O. Box 117, Blue Ridge, VA 24064 or you can give online by clicking here:  Online Giving For Rajendra.  Please put a note stating "Rajendra Medical Help". Thank you!

Thank you so much for praying for Rajendra. The latest report we have is that he is in a Vijayawada Hospital. He was in such bad condition that the 1st hospital in a smaller city would not take him in. They had to drive 1 more hour to the larger city to a bigger hospital. He is still unconscious. The left side of his body was hit by the truck and he has many broken bones. They are not allowing anyone to come into the room at this time. Steeven is still traveling to Vijayawada. He should arrive around 5PM EST. He will give us another update at that time. Rajendra is in need of a miracle from God to make it through this. Please continue to pray. The caretaker, Motro, had a major heart issue today when he came upon the scene and had to be taken to the hospital as well. He is doing much better now. Please pray that Rajendra will get the best care possible. We have sent some money today so that they will continue to treat him. If they cannot prove that they can pay, they will not continue to give him treatment. If you would like to help with his medical expenses, please send it to Global Partners in Peace and Development P.O. Box 117, Blue Ridge, VA 24064 or you can give online by clicking here:  Online Giving For Rajendra. Please put a note stating "Rajendra Medical Help". Thank you!

Please pray for Rajendra Putti. On Sunday night at 10:50PM EST (8:20AM in India) Rajendra was on his way to school when he was hit by a truck on the local highway. He was unconscious and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The last report we received at 12:10AM he had arrived at the hopsitial, but we do not know his condition. Please pray for Rajendra, for God to do a miracle in his life. Also, pray for the other orphan boys and girls in Mudinepally who love Rajendra. Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring them comfort. Also, pray for Motro, the caretaker of this home, that God would give Him peace and wisdom during this difficult time. We will update you as we get more information from Steeven and Dorothy. Steeven is a long ways from where the accident is, but is immediately getting transportation to this area. Dorothy was much closer and she is on her way now. Thank you for interceding on behalf of Rajendra.
