Haiti Child Sponsorship

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and was already struggling to recover from several hurricanes in 2008, when the devastating earthquake happened on January 12th.  Global Partners in Peace & Development is partnering with Christian Light Foundation to help provide hope to their students at the Christian Light School in Port-Au-Prince, whose lives were forever changed by the recent earthquake.

For just $30 per month**, you can become a sponsor of one of these precious children.  Your help will provide hope to over 200 Haitian boys and girls at the school.  You can sponsor a child that attends the school or one of the 29 orphans that Sherrie Fausey, CLF missionary and Director of the Christian Light School, cares for on a daily basis.  Christian Light School offers one of the best education programs in all of Haiti for children in grades K4 through the 7th grade.  By the 4th grade, each student is able to speak 3 different languages (Creole, French & English).     

Your $30 per month** will provide each child with:

  • Food (Each child receives breakfast and a hot lunch.  For many of the school children, this is the only food they will receive each day.)
  • Medical Care
  • Education
  • Shelter for the 29 orphans that Sherrie is caring for (the other children attending the school live with family members, many are now living in tents as their homes were destroyed) 

We do not yet have the pictures and bios of the children that will be a part of our child sponsorship program.  Much of this information was lost during the earthquake.  We will send a child sponsorship packet as soon as all of this information can be collected.  Our target date is in March, however you can begin your monthly support now by sending a check to GPPD (PO Box 117, Blue Ridge, VA  24064).  Please send a note with your check that indicates that it is for “Haiti Child Sponsorship”.

**PLEASE NOTE:  While GPPD is able to provide its Associates with 100% of their donations received (with nothing taken out for administrative purposes), when partnering with other organizations, we have no control over the administrative fees that they charge.  Be assured that 100% of the money that is given to the GPPD Haiti Child Sponsorship program will be sent to the Christian Light Foundation.
